You may want to look at "SUBJECTIVE lens Evaluations
(Mostly Nikkors)" on my web page, under "I babble"...
The 35mm f1.4 Nikkor is excellent, and quite useable
at f1.4, though sharpness improves some, and contrast
improves noticeably, with stopping down. Mechanics are
good, though the focus mount developed irregularities
on two of several I have seen. The 35mm f2 AI/AIS is
snappier at f2, but it shows noticeable illumination
roll-off, and less film exposure at f2 than the f1.4.
I recently switched to the f2 MF as my favorite 35mm
(other than the preset-diaphragm f2.8 PC) - anyone
want a couple of nice 35mm f1.4's...?;-)
