The short of it, from my experience with 2 samples, is:
stick with primes - they are faster, smaller, lighter,
sharper, and probably cheaper (and the 2X zoom range
is too small to be very useful, unless your shooting
position is solidly anchored in one place). Some people
like this lens, but I was not impressed with its optical
prowess or usefulness - it is very good, but not great.

performance characteristics by lens-type groups, and
