The one 24-120 I tried was quite sharp stopped down, and surprisingly
good even at f5.6. The two 35-200's I tried were both dreadful, but
one was even worse than the other... Wide-range zooms can show
considerable sample differences, and some people have reported
good results with the rather nicely-made and pleasant-to-use
compact 35-200. Check on film any lens you buy, especially
zooms, and VERY especially wide-range zooms that include
wide angle. BTW, both lenses are listed on my Nikkor
evaluation list, and the 24-120 is reviewed, on
my web page, under "I babble".
