It is a pleasant, compact AF Nikkor (with the look and feel of recent
Nikkor AF mid-line lenses - not bad, but hardly AIS-metal quality).
Optically, it is also middling (good, but bettered by the best
Nikkor zooms, though better than several Nikkor zooms), and easily
bettered by any Nikkor prime in its range. A good sample of the
MF version could better it, but unusually high sample variability
in that lens makes it unlikely that any given sample of the AIS 35-105
would be better than the AF-D version. BTW, I have a mint AF-D 35-105
for sale - let me know if interested...;-)
