Ignor the Nikon list - it just accounts for physical fit and obvious
incompatibilities, not actual optical competency. The 300mm f4.5's
(with the definite exception of the rare ED non-IF!) are not very
good on converters, even the expensive ones. If you have both the
300mm and the TC14A, try them together to see if the results are
OK for you.
