I seem to recall that a 3-D lens is made for the Canon
XL-1 (I don't recall if it uses two monochrome colored
superimposed images, or side-by-side full-color images).
It is easy to mount two identical camcorders side-by-side,
though, and use a "clicker" for synchronizing them when
combining their images side-by-side during editing (I
prefer dual squares, with black letterboxing bands at
top and bottom), and this works better in terms of image
quality and 3-D effect (though it requires the viewer to
know how to directly view dual 3-D images...). I made a
3-D video this way (with two VX1000s, but two smaller
cameras should be good, also). BTW, on my web site at
http://www.David-Ruether-Photography.com/changing.html are
several sets of direct-view 3-D images, most made with
video cameras...
