If you are looking for a Nikon 2X converter, there is only one
(optically), the TC200/201, non-AF, that will fit both lenses.
Performance is OK on both lenses, if stopped down to at least
f5.6 (f11 working aperture - none too fast!), and pretty good
by f11 (f22 working aperture...). The requisite 2-stop loss,
plus the need to stop down for acceptable performance makes
the short 2X not terribly useful, alas (except maybe for
flash macro, or tripod work). BTW, short lenses work
about as well as any on the TC201 (the 28mm f2.8
AIS, focused at its unusually close minimum,
makes a decent macro lens on the 2X).
The TC14A gives better results,
with only one stop loss.
Hope This Helps
