According to Walter Pietsch, the AFD 28mm f2.8 now has 6 elements, and it may therefore be better than the exquisitely bad 5 element AF and E Nikkors that I have tried - there are mighty few Nikkors like this, but it has happened.....(actually, one of them was fine by mid apertures,
but........., when there are excellent 28's in the line like the 8
element [one floating] AIS f2.8, and the about equally good newer
style MF 28mm f3.5, both of which are fine wide-open, why bother
[and why did Nikon bother?] with a greatly inferior lens design?)
Hope This Helps
