I sold my 35mm f1.4 Nikkor in favor of an AIS 35mm f2,
which has more "snap" than the f1.4 at all stops,
but particularly from f2->f5.6 or so... I use these
fast lenses most often nearly wide open, and I prefer
better performance there (though as lenses go wider,
they can be used at smaller stops in the same light
levels, so f5.6 is OK for the 24 and 20mm f2.8 Nikkors
that need this stop to perform well). The 28mm f2
is a bit sharper at f5.6 than the AIS 28mm f2.8, but
at f2.8 and f4, there is no contest... Try the 28mm f3.5
unshifted compared with the 28mm f2 at f3.5/4 and f5.6,
though with good samples, you may not see much difference
except possibly at f4 except in the corners (I prefer
the f4 version of the 28mm PC, though...).
