Ah, we would all like the super wide-range, compact, light, fast,
optically superb, and reasonably cheap do-all lens, but no one has
come up with one yet, alas. If the question is, "What is a good
28-200mm lens?", the answer has to be, "None, unless your standard
for 'good' is low". The best I have seen in a lens that satisfies
much of the above is the Tamron 28-135mm MF f4-4.5 (With Shade!),
but it is only available used for about $250-300 (B&H may have the shade, which also fits the Tamron 35-200mm lens [which is NOT in
the same league in optical quality]).
