Remember that there are sharp 80-200mm and 70-210mm f4
Nikkor zooms, which are not much shorter, and may be
about the same (or better) at f4 than the converter +
180 (and not much different in size).....
The 180mm f2.8 AF Nikkor is one really superb lens!
The TC14/14B/14C will not fit, due to a mask at the
rear of the lens (unless you use a tube between lens
and converter for close-ups). The TC14A will fit and
it works well, but the same converter on the 80-200mm
f4 AIS or 70-210mm f4 E may be more useful.....
(Or, how about the 75-300mm f4.5-5.6 AF Nikkor,
which can be fine wide-open? BTW, the 80-200 f2.8
AF Nikkor is excellent on the TC14/14B, and even a
bit better on the TC14C.)
Hope This Helps
