The MF is smaller; the AF is IF (so is perhaps easier to focus);
they feel different in the hand; the price difference may be relevant;
the AF is VERY sharp at ALL distances, center-to-corner; the MF may
have some image quality reduction near minimum focus at wide
aperatures (since you mention portraits, this may, or may not, be
an advantage for you), though otherwise, it is also very sharp
center-to-corners at all apertures. Good luck deciding - they are
both really excellent lenses!
