Hmmm, funny you should ask - I bought one recently, used it briefly, and
sold it a couple of days ago..... As long mirror lenses go (even very expensive ones), the MTO was rather good, having good contrast, unusually
even illumination, and decent resolution (given its length and price) -
and it was well-made. I made some very nice 8x10's using it hand-held
in very bright light with Tri-X pushed slightly. Slides look good, unless magnified more than 3-4 times (good color saturation and balance, with
good, but slightly diffuse-looking, detail). Moons added to slides of evening landscapes (with double exposures) looked good, though not super
crisp. I decided that I prefered my older 500mm f8 Nikkor mirror with
TC14B (for 700mm), though it is not so long, since it is noticeably
sharper.
I can recommend the 1000mm MTO, if your expectations are not very high,
particularly if it is used with slightly contrasty, slightly grainy B & W
or color negative materials. It can be more than a toy, if used with understanding (and with the understanding that very long lenses are
normally VERY hard to use successfully). Have fun with it!
Hope This Helps
