It is a first-rate lens optically - as sharp even wide-open as any
far more expensive 100-105mm lens. The mechanics are not as well-made
and durable as the more expensive MF Nikkors (but one could argue
that they are at least as good as most AF Nikkors...;-). This is a real bargain lens! (BTW, if you are looking for one, I have a
near-mint later-aesthetics version for sale for $125... - I'm keeping
the LN ugly early-aesthetics version...;-). The Nikon 100mm f2.8 E is
light, compact, very sharp, reasonably fast, and very cheap - seems
like a winner to me...! ;-)
