Um, the difference is closer to 3/4 stop..., and the
answer is, probably not - the slower lens can actually
be easier to focus with many viewfinders (I suspect that
VF optimization is shifting toward the popular slow zooms,
making manual focus of fast lenses harder on newer bodies).
And many speed lenses are not great wide-open....
