Depends on conditions, and the quality of the one-chipper
and 3-chipper... The worst 3-chipper I've seen has the
high-contrast and picture-busyness of a one-chipper;
the best one-chipper I've seen looks like a good 3-chipper
in the right lighting and subject conditions (but can
look terrible otherwise...). A good 3-chipper has better
shadow and highlight detail (better tonality) than a
one-chipper, and a picture that looks smoother and
"quieter" (less "buzzing") under difficult
conditions - and 3-chipper Mini-DV camcorders generally
are better in low light than one-chippers. So, the
answer is, "yes, quite often - but not always".
