Samples of TRV900s vary in this characteristic, but it is a
mechanical pickup of vibration from the camera. If it is
very moderate (as in, just audible, but not overwhelming),
Cool Edit's good noise-reduction module
(www.syntrillium.com) does a good job of removing it from
the tracks. During recording, the only way I have found is
to physically remove the Sennheiser MKE-300 from the camera,
a bit awkward. Using bars, handles, etc. with shoes does
not help much, alas... Perhaps a "home-brew" or commercial
isolation/shock-mount would work, but I have not tried it.
BTW, the VX2000 shares this problem with this mic, but the
"hum" level is low enough for Cool Edit to remove it easily.
