Since "non-AI" is the exception these days, unless a lens is non-AI,
most advertisers don't bother to say anything about it. Nikkor AI,
AIS, E, AF, and AI'd lenses are all AI (AIS, E, and AF are "AIS",
if you have one of the bodies that use that feature). All Nikkor
lenses (including AF) lenses may be used freely on all non-AI MF
bodies (stop-down metering is required with E and AF lenses, since
there is no lens coupling prong). Nikon tries to keep everything compatible - the only "no-no" is putting a non-AI lens on an AI body, unless the body AI tab can be moved out of the way first (possible on FM, FE, F3, and F4). Even Non-AI lenses can be converted to AI at low price.
