I was not happy with the Sony WCS999 (or with the Nady 351).
Both had unacceptable "pops" and other noises,
even at short
distances. The Azden WMS-Pro (at $150) remains the best
low-end wireless system I've tried (it is often clean out
to maybe 75', though lately "swishing" noises have
become
a problem with it...), but the overwhelming recommendation
of "those in the know" for reliability is for the
Sennheiser
EV100, at around $500 at B&H, as you said...
