Yes - but it would require an extra mode, and would not have
"instant" start-up... The shut-down is intended to
protect
the tape and heads (the drum spins FAST in Mini-DV cameras!)
from excessive wear. BTW, some hard-wired Lanc controllers
can "wake" the camera after auto shut-down in
camera mode
(a cheap one is attached to the poor bottom-end Sony
remote-control tripod, around $75 - remove the remote from
the handle, add an extension cable, and give away the
tripod...;-).
