In AE, you can work with, and also *output* high-res.

video - though finding a recording medium that will retain

the image resolution is a problem... As for working within

standard DV, there is an advantage in starting with higher

than normal resolution, though resizing in odd proportions

can cause problems unless done in a good photo-editor and

not in the video editor. Motion of the still image, or

panning/zooming within it digitally is possible, but

results are not as good as shooting standard-definition

video of a moved photograph (and I also prefer standard

definition shooting of photos and slides to scanning and

importing digital stills - the results just plain look

better even when there is no motion...). If there were

a good high-def recording device available (HDTV

camcorder?), it would be tempting to shoot frame-by-frame

(animation...;-) with a good still digital camera and

edit in AE (if I could ever figure it out...;-) for some

material - but mebbe I will just wait for a good,

affordable HDTV camcorder...;-)
