Does simple (Kenko, Soligor, other "pirates") (0.5-0.7x)
wide-converters

give problems or take away much resolution?
There
are sharp and unsharp WA lens converters in all price ranges
and
among all the available brands - and part of this can be good
matching
with particular camcorder lenses (and sometimes using
the
optimum spacing between the converter and the lens). For some
samples
on a VX2000, see
www.David-Ruether-Photography.com/WA-converters.htm.

Do you recommend UV filters just as lens protection?
YES!!!
In the US, a good choice is the metal-rimmed, single-coated
Hoya UV
in the appropriate thread size. These are as good as any
for
most purposes, but they are moderately priced...

Which is the best budget miniDV-tape?
It is
important to me NEVER to change tape brands (to minimize
the
possibility of head clogs from incompatible tape lubricants).
I like
Sony (and Sony also makes some of the tape supplied under
other
brand names, as does Panasonic), and go for the "EX"
for
most things, or the "PR" for "cheaps" - but with all DV
tape,
barring
dropouts, the picture and sound will be identical (the
short
and long term durability may not be the same, though...).
