What good is "small" for a camcorder, if you need to add a bulky mic?

(BTW, most Sony models (maybe others?) do not suffer this problem,

so "small" remains "small"...) The best (kinda small...) stereo mic I know

of is the Sony 908c, under $100 as I recall...
