I may
be wrong, but my guess is that the IR filter
in the
camera is optimized for the particulars of
the
sensor characteristics, so no stock front filter
would
exactly compensate for its loss - though
white-balancing
may compensate if things are not
too
odd, once the IR is mostly blocked. If you
are
removing the filter to permit observation by
IR
illumination (I hope for good purpose! ;-),
you
will need to provide that illumination (and
it can
be invisible). BTW, IR does not "look
through
clothes", contrary to popular opinion...;-)
Trusting
that your motives are good (and since
web-cams
are cheap), good luck with this, and
let us
know the results (and, BTW, an IR filter
can be
rather expensive...).
