Hmmmm....
Why not just try it?
I think Adobe has it right for TV-viewing. I size 4:3
(usually double 640x480 [1280x960], rather than
720x540, but the latter should work at least as well...;-),
then just import. While in Premiere, the images will be
stretched sideways to 720x480 proportion (and shown that
way in P-5, but "restored" in the preview in P-6),
but
the proportions will be restored upon viewing on a TV.
If you are viewing on a computer, you may want to go
with the 720x480 proportion for importing (NTSC)...
