This sounds like a defect - Sony DV cameras at all

price levels sold in the last several years have been

essentially free of motor-noise pick-up (they use

noise-cancelling). As for removing what is there,

you may be successful with a good WAV editor with

a noise-reduction module (it samples the noise in a

quiet part of the tape and then reduces that particular

noise overall). Best inexpensive one I know of (this

is WONDERFUL software!!!) is Cool Edit - look for it

at www.syntrillium.com.
