Nice, and absurd, but....;-)
It was a struggle to get my first Mini-DV camcorder
quite a ways back, and that one was a used Sony VX700
1-chipper. It was followed by a new 3-chip VX1000.
I shot with this for what seemed like "ages"
before
there was a useable computer socket to plug the other
end of the FireWire cable into, for computer video
editing (talk about difficult, with the need to feed
up to only two 9-minute pieces of edited material to
tape before clearing the drives and importing material
for editing the next two bits to be pieced onto the
master tape to make up long videos...!). About this time
I acquired my second VX1000 (for backup and second-camera),
and was in digital-video "heaven"...! ;-) But,
then,
other possibilities showed themselves: a TRV9 for deck
and "compact-camera-on-a-clamp" use, plus
daylight-infrared shooting of landscapes; a good deal
on a small used 3-chip EZ30U, a *tiny* PC1, a new
fairly compact TRV900 (which was also better in low
light than the VX1000), etc. Then came
"next-generation"
stuff, and the 1000s were sold in favor of first two,
then a third 2000 (may be rethinking this last...;-),
a "beater" 900, a swap of a better PC9 for the
PC1,
a couple of cheap demo (but VERY pleasant) TRV11s,
a high-res (for 1-chip) TRV30... Each has its
"points-'n'-limitations" for specific uses, and
the
bunch were acquired over time, often used, so.....;-)
Once in a while about half a dozen of these get used
on a single job (plus a couple used for decks) - see:
www.David-Ruether-Photography.com/multi-camera2.htm.
If you think this is bad, you should see my collection
of WA/tele lens converters and stepping rings! ;-)
