You can have different external mics on all Mini-DV camcorders

with an external mic input (though these may not match in level),

such as a wireless mic and a shotgun, but you cannot record with

both the internal mic and an external mic at the same time - inserting

a plug into the mic jack on the camera disables the built-in mic...
