You can make home-made ones with taped-on

writing paper, or buy a commercial version,

but best is getting a remote cord anf bracket

and mounting the flash at the front edge of

the lens, not right over the center, at an

angle to point directly at the macro subject.

If you are shooting high-magnification, the

flash tube size alone gives a "soft-box"

effect, and a diffuser is not needed (and

will not make a difference unless it changes

the light source size noticeably). For

"Bugs" - the high-magnification ones are all

shot single-flash... BTW, I do not recommend

using a ring light for macro - it is too

soft a light...
