Archiving
in LP-mode is not a good idea, but if for short-term use,
the
results are likely identical to SP mode and OK (dropout rate may
increase,
and tapes may not be playable on other gear, though). Sony and
Panasonic
make the tape for most brands, but I still would avoid mixing
brands
(or especially the top-end Panasonics with ANYTHING else!)
to
avoid head-clog problems. Both Panasonic and Sony make 80-minute
tapes
(120 in LP-mode). For D8, Sony makes 90-minute tapes that
give
you about 137 minutes in LP-mode (the D8 camera can be
FireWire-connected
to a better camera for long tape run-time).
