Hi--

Your review was so thorough that my head is still spinning.  I just got a Fuji Finepix S2 Pro for my husband, a professional photographer (he is slowly getting into digital).  My question is  Can you recommend one or Nikkor lens F mount models?  I ask this question to everyone, and they all say, it depends what you are using the camera for .  I tell them general purpose and they are not helpful.  My husband shoots weddings - indoor and outdoor, portraits, product and commercial photography, glamour/boudoir, and an occasional magazine cover.  He does not do any sports or action photography, no underwater, no macro.  If we are going to buy a couple of lenses, what would you recommend?

I assume you have been to www.David-Ruether-Photography.com/slemn.html ...?

Lenses are "personal" things; I like wide-angles, so I carry

16, 20, 24/28PC, 35, and 85mm lenses - but a "long-lens" person

may prefer 35, 85, 180, 300 (or some such...). Some like zooms;

I prefer good wide-stop performance. Some prefer very fast

lenses; I prefer the best possible lenses. For most, though,

at least the excellent AF 85mm f1.8 is generally safe (unless they

want macro function, or greater "portrait" length, come to think of

it...;-). Most weddings can be shot 90% with a 35mm f2 - but some

hate this "dull" FL...  Etc. I think you must be getting the

idea - there is no universally-recommendable lens... Further

complicating this I think lenses on the S2 are effectively about 1.5

times their FL on full-frame 35mm - this makes finding good wide-angles

even harder (Nikon is coming out with a 12-24mm zoom to solve this

problem, though...).
