For
safety, you can use a 10-watt 6V or so zener diode, with the correct
orientation,
in series with the 10-watt/10-ohm resistor to stop discharge
around
6 volts - or you can run the resistor alone if you monitor the
voltage
continuously as the battery discharges (rather boring...;-).
