The GL2
is overall a better camera than the XL1, unless
you
absolutely need the interchangeable-lens feature,
but if
so, there are better options among shoulder-mount
cameras.
Among "Handycam"-style Mini-DV/DVCam
camcorders,
look at the Canon GL2, Sony VX2000/PD150,
JVC
GY-DV300, and Panasonic DVX100; among
shoulder-mount
types, look at various JVC, Sony, and
Panasonic
models. Better, but far more expensive:
D50
models, HD models, top-end BetaSP models.
The
Sony PD150 and JVC DV-GY500 are popular
small
production house camcorder choices when the
budget
is tight...
