It's been a bad year. The death of the wife of a singer friend hit me first, then

the death of a video producer friend of about 35 years, then my brush with

what killed him (with some "interesting" follow-ups that have robbed me of

freedom of movement), and today news of the death of a photographer

friend of 25 years...
