"New"
is not necessarily "better", though. Some older gear
(in
good shape) is better than some new gear...

I was
referring to the Sony VX2000/PD150, the Panasonic
DVX100/DVX80,
the JVC GY-DV300, and the Canon GL2
among
current cameras, and the Sony VX1000 and TRV900
and
maybe the Panasonic AG-EZ30U/950 among older
cameras
- plus the Sony, JVC, and new Panasonic Mini-DV
shoulder-mount
cameras (these last are much more expensive,
unless
price-compared with an XL1 with upgraded VF, power
supply,
and lens...;-) are all likely better for most purposes
than
the XL1...
