Buy the cheapest Sony tripod equipped with a Lanc controller

($75?), remove the controller from the handle (it fits well

in the hand afterwards), and give away the terrible

tripod...;-) The controller can power-up the camera,

start/stop recording, and provide two speeds of zooming,

as I recall - and the buttons light up, making use easy

in dark places...
