VX2000/2100
- excellent high and low light picture, good ambient-sound
recording
with the built-in mic (and the camera is more compact, less
intimidating
looking - and "hiss" is a non-issue for all but quiet-room recording,
and
good noise-reduction software easily takes care of what little may be
evident
there...), very long recording time with inexpensive and compact
batteries,
proven history of reasonable durability/compatibility, etc.
I did
not like the TRV950 (and variants) - the picture is too contrasty (the
900 is
better in this and low-light range; the VX2000 [and variants] are
better
yet...). The alternative would be the DVX100 (though the range of lens
converters
is more restricted, durability may not be as high, and the low-light
picture
is not quite as smooth...).
