Buy any good-but-inexpensive current model

(Dell, Medion, etc.) with a FireWire port.

Avoid "state-of-the-art" - it is a waste of

money. Add a second hard drive, extra RAM,

probably a second monitor, and the editing

software. For a tiny fraction of your budget,

you will have a good machine for doing what

you want...
