I think a better solution for many flashes (certainly the

Nikon shoe-mount flashes) is to use sets of nickel metal

hydride batteries internally. These recycle faster than

alkalines, especially toward exhaustion, and last about

as long. Why put up with cords and external packs when

a neat solution exists, with no extras or modifications?

BTW, a set of good rechargeables runs my flashes for

10-15 rolls of 36-exp film, all with quick recycle...
