The
TRV22 is worth the extra money if you want a color
VF (not
necessarily sharper than the B&W...), analogue
inputs
and pass-through (for digitizing older non DV video
tapes),
and that is about it. The MPEG quality is very low,
and not
suitable for writing DVDs (and it's in the wrong
format).
Even for email use with dial-up service, the file
sizes
much above about 4 seconds of video are too big
for
anythiing but fast service. (See
http://208.249.120.225/visitithaca/video.htm
for a PC9
example...)
If you want to see how the TRV19/22 image
compares
with some other Sony camcorders for quality
and
low-light range, see the PC9 images (the same...) at:
www.David-Ruether-Photography.com/camcorder--comparison.htm.
The
TRV19/22 offer a pleasant balance of image
characteristics
- outstanding in none, but as a group,
better
than most other choices for casual use in 1-CCD
Mini-DV
camcorders...
