The low-light *range* of the TRV11/17/18 is a bit
greater, given its larger CCD and lower pixel-count
compared with the TRV25/27, but the *image quality*
in terms of image-sharpness, color-quality, and image
smoothness at the (higher) lower limit of the TRV25/27
favors it (and the fairly conservative pixel-count
appears to minimize somewhat the motion-artifacting
seen on higher pixel count models...). I often
recommend the TRV11/17/18-PC9 for casual shooters who
might prefer a "pleasant" image, and the higher
pixel
count 1-chippers for those preferring a sharper image
with slightly better color (but with more annoying
artifacting in contrasty lighting, and a little less
low-light range. Best is a good 3-chipper, but these
are generally more expensive, and larger/heavier...
