This is nearly funny! He calls the
condition excellent!

Yes. I
used to laugh at the Shutterbug ratings that the seller
was
probably basing his (optimistic) "Ex" on - "90% original
finish",
or some such. Never could figure out what that meant.
All
like new, except that 10% of the finish can be missing?
The
dents, dings, and scratches can be 10% through the
materials?
What? It left the seller with lots of "wriggle" room,
and
Shutterbug with lots of nice-sounding classified ads
with
items that were not as one might expect from a description
of
"excellent" ("very good" was actually
"horrible"...;-). Then
there
was that mysterious "mint+++", somehow distinguishable
from
"like new"...;-) As for this lens, though, someone got what
may be
normally a very interesting and expensive Nikkor in
usable
condition for $86 plus shipping. Adding a $25 AI'ing job,
and it
will fit many recent Nikon bodies. Not a bad deal....! ;-)
