I assume that this was Hi-8? If it is small, and

without a stabilizer, it may be a Sony TR-200 in

disguise, a rather good Hi-8 with an excellent

picture (though it was a "bottom-end" model at

the time). If it has a digital stabilizer

(picture softens noticeably when engaged with

this model - before Sony learned how to do DIS

right...), it may have been the Sony TR-400. If

it has an optical stabilizer and is fairly large,

it may be the really-excellent TR-700. I don't

know if other models were sold under the Nikon

label, or not... These days, good as these Hi-8

models were compared with others of the time,

or with later models, values are limited by the

falling prices of Mini-DV and D8 models. A

nice-condition TR-200 or TR-700 is still a very

good camcorder, though, with advantages in low

light shooting compared with most current 1-CCD

models (they used 1/2" low-pixel-count CCDs, as

I recall...).
