The
Nikon E lenses were AIS, single-coated in the non-zooms, multi-coated
in the
zooms. All lens elements were glass. Barrel materials varied - some
had
mostly plastic outer barrel parts, with aluminum and teflon helical
construction;
others (mostly the zooms) were mostly metal in construction.
The
50mm and longer lenses and the zooms were optically excellent and
reasonably
consistent in performance among samples; the 28 and 35 varied
from
good to poor in performance...
