There is a hack for the hardware - but it is too risky
(if you can get to it [and back!] successfully, you can
disable the switch that forces the overexposure). I like
shooting landscapes with daylight-enabled IR capability
(for more, see the Sony TRV9 review at:
www.David-Ruether-Photography.com/camcorder-comparison.htm). As
for adding filtration to do what you want, try crossed
polarizers (linear on the outside, circular on the inside)
with a 3-stop ND added, plus a no. 87 filter in gel form
placed behind the glass filters. This works, but you
are using the lens wide-open, and with several parallel
glass surfaces (you will need a good lens shade).
