What follows is a note from me to Nikon regarding my

Canon has ALWAYS had better marketing than Nikon
(just as, in the video world, Canon has always
had better marketing than Sony...), but nothing
in your post was about the relative *real relative
quality* of the products involved, which for some
of us is FAR more basic than relative ad-hype
degree, frequency of appearance of ads, quality
of the advertising (which includes the popular
magazine "reviews"...;-), or even of the quality
of customer relations (which is also a part of
marketing). I buy hardware. Sometimes Canon
offers a better product for a particular use,
sometimes Nikon (or Sony) does - but I decide
on the basis of function, not corporate or
product-line "image"...;-) (BTW, there's more I've
found about people's susceptibility to marketing
that predicts surprisingly reliably what computer
brand an avid Canon owner is likely to own, etc.,
but this is the "stuff" of flame-wars and
market-research, so......;-)
