Trip to the South Western US

PETRIFIED FOREST NATIONAL PARK

David remembered this park as being surprisingly interesting for landscape reasons (in addition to seeing the rock "wood" everywhere - with some looking like gem-stones, and with some pieces being quite large). It was a strange experience, walking among the small purple and cream colored hills and valleys of the Blue Mesa area. There were also the Painted Desert area (photos 1 and 2) and the strange large flat area with what looked like many small streams in it (photo 14). Unfortunately, the sun was not out this day and the colors were not at their peak.
