Trip to the South Western US

May - June  2005

KODACHROME BASIN STATE PARK

We stopped at a tall potato-shaped rock for a few pictures, and hiked a beautiful desert trail to Shakespeare Arch. The arch was not very impressive, but the desert scenery made this hike very worthwhile - and this may have been the nicest trail we took on the trip. For a small park, there was considerable visual variation here: pillars (like the one in the photo of Bob and our red Chevrolet "space machine"), small-but-exquisite desert textures, red-rock areas, an arch, some washes, and some nice distant vistas.
